SANTA ANA, Calif. – The American Red Cross serving Riverside County has closed its shelter at the Banning Community Center, but continues to assist those affected by recent fires.
Trained Red Cross volunteers are meeting with families whose homes were damaged in Banning and Mira Loma to ensure that their immediate disaster-caused needs have been met. As the recovery process begins, caseworkers will continue to be in close contact with these families, helping link them to additional resources that may be available.
Over the past two days, the Red Cross has staffed a shelter, provided emotional support to the community and distributed meals and snacks to evacuees and emergency officials. The organization is in close contact with local authorities and remains ready to provide additional assistance as needed.
