DISASTER ALERT: Flooding in Argentina

Argentina – Heavy rainfall from April 2 to April 3 led to the deaths of more than 50 people and the evacuation of more than 3,000 in the city of La Plata, Argentina.

The Argentine Red Cross is working closely with Civil Defense and local authorities to assist the more than 300,000 people who have been affected in the Buenos Aires province. Volunteers are assisting with search and rescue, collecting and distributing donated items and coordinating damage assessments throughout the area.

In response to their request for assistance, the American Red Cross is sending a delegate to develop a cash transfer program that will give vouchers to 1,000 people to purchase basic household supplies.
